The kidneys, which are two organs that are bean-shaped and which are approximately the size of a fist, are found just under the rib cage on every one of the sides of the spine. The kidneys purify around 120 to 150 quarts of waste, urine and excess fluid on a daily basis so that there is no waste accumulation in the body. The kidneys are responsible for keeping the electrolyte levels stable and they also produce hormones which regulate the blood pressure, keep the bones strong and make red blood cells.
The kidneys are very important organs. One needs healthy kidneys so that their body can function properly. Kidneys’ damage can sometimes go unnoticed and it is very important to take precautionary measure and make sure that your kidneys are healthy. Read about 10 usual habits that have bad influence on your kidneys and you may not even know it.
- Lack of Water
One of the main kidneys function is to purify the blood and eliminate waste materials and toxins which can damage the body. If you don’t drink plenty of water, the waste and the toxins may start to buildup and that can eventually cause serious damage.
- Eating High Amounts of Salt
In order to work properly, the body does not require salt, nevertheless high amounts of sodium can cause damage. The majority of people consume plenty of salt and that can stress the kidneys and can alleviate the blood pressure.
- Eating High Amounts of Sugar
According to studies, the odds are that those people who have a few sugary drink per day have protein in their urine. This is an early warning sign that something is wrong with the kidneys.
- Holding the Urine
As weirs as it sound, this is quite common. This usually happens in the middle of a car ride or a phone call or when there isn’t a bathroom anywhere near. Nevertheless, if you hold urine regularly it can increase pressure which can then lead to kidney stones and kidney pressure.
- Having Minerals and Vitamins Deficiency
Healthy diet is vital for the health in general that includes the kidneys as well. There are number of deficiencies which can increase the formation of kidney stones or lead to kidney failure. Magnesium and B6 are some of them.
- Drinking too Much Coffee
Caffeine can stress the kidneys and it can alleviate the blood pressure. Too much coffee consumption can cause kidneys damage with time.
- Consuming Animal Protein in Abundance
Eating too much animal protein, red meat in particular can elevate the metabolic weight to the kidneys. Eating animal protein in abundance can stress the kidneys and can cause kidneys damage.
- Lack of Sleep
Constant lack of sleep can cause a number of health issues that also includes kidney disease. The body repairs the kidney tissue while sleeping, so lack of sleep can make it harder for the tissue to heal.
- Misusing Painkillers
Both prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs are usually taken for pain and aches and people usually do not keep in mind that they come with side effects. Abuse or excessive use of painkillers can cause grave liver and kidney damage.
10. Consuming Too Much Alcohol
Alcohol stresses the kidneys and also the liver. Even though many people enjoy a bottle of beer or glass of wine occasionally, if alcohol is consumed too often, it can lead to kidney damage.

In a not-so-classic tale of revenge, a giant python tried to take a chunk out of a man’s arm before he and some other villagers decided to kill the beastie and eat it. The slithery wannabe assassin, found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, was measured to be 7 meters (23 feet) long – no small fry, that’s for sure.
According to reports, the man in question was Robert Nababan, 37, who was driving around on his moped in Riau Province before coming across this snake, which happened to be blocking traffic. He stepped up to the plate, confronted the snake, and decided he had no choice but to physically force it off the road.
It was at this point that the python – probably the Python reticulatus species – decided he didn’t like this forced relocation. It lashed out, bit the man’s arm, and coiled itself around him so he couldn’t escape. “We wrestled for a while,” he told reporters from his hospital bed. This, of course, makes this story one of the strangest cases of road rage in history.
Ultimately, with the help of others, the python lost the fight. It was last seen in a backyard near the sight of the struggle, where it was consumed piece by piece by people with a penchant for vertebrate Parseltongue speakers.
Make no mistake – these snakes can be incredibly dangerous. Their bite is difficult to shake loose, and if the man was on his own at the time, it may have been him that ended up being served up for dinner.

You’re not allowed to fall in love with an American under Trump’s new visa rules
Donald Trump’s just made it even harder for those trying to enter the states. He’s given immigration officials new grounds to deny entry — asking all those who require a visa to follow-through on their stated plans for at least three months. Failure to do so will make it harder for them for renew their visa or change its status.
So if you’re in America for work, fall in love with a citizen and get married, it would be presumed that you have deliberately lied and will make living in the states difficult in the future.
Diane Rish, associate director of government relations at the American Immigration Lawyers Association, told The New York Times: ‘If someone comes to the U.S. as a tourist, falls in love and gets married within 90 days and then applies for a green card, this means the application would be denied. This is a significant policy change.’
In separate visa news, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has resumed processing all pending H-1B visa petitions.
It was temporarily suspended by the Trump administration to halt the rush on applications.

'All of this illicit activity takes place without the victim’s knowledge'
Malware that secretly charges users for fake services has been downloaded by millions of people, a new report says.
“ExpensiveWall”, software designed to cheat users out of their money without them realising, was hidden in at least 50 apps in the Google Play store. A list of apps can be found further down this page.
According to the Check Point researchers who discovered it, ExpensiveWall has been downloaded between one million and 4.2 million times.
“The malware registers victims to premium services without their knowledge and sends fraudulent premium SMS messages, charging their accounts for fake services,” the researchers said.
“In some cases, the SMS activity takes place without giving the user any notice. In other cases, the malware presents the user with a button called ‘Continue’, and once the user clicks the button, the malware sends a premium SMS on [their] behalf.”
A number of people who installed ExpensiveWall-infected apps tried to warn other users off downloading them by leaving negative reviews on Google Play. Some of these read:
“It is NOTHING like the ad on Instagram tey [sic] lie to you DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT”
“The comments indicate that the app is promoted on several social networks including Instagram, which might explain how it came to be downloaded so many times,” said Check Point.
The ExpensiveWall apps were reported to Google on 7 August and removed from the Play store.
However, Check Point says more infected apps were made available to download on Google Play “within days”. These were taken down four days later.

The government of the Oromia Regional State does not have any intention to disrupt the investment activities and operations of Dangote Cement, owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, head of the regional communications affairs office and other cabinet members told The Reporter.
Top officials of the regional government came out to defend their position following a foreign media report alleging Dangote Cement is considering quitting its plant in Ethiopia “over a mining dispute”.
“Dangote may quit its cement operations in Ethiopia if authorities in the central state of Oromia don’t reverse an order to cement makers to hand over control of some parts of their businesses to local young people,” the US-based media outlet, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
Addisu Arega, head of the Oromia Communications Affairs office, told The Reporter that all cement factories in the regional state, including Dangote are operating very smoothly.
According to him, the regional government have discussed thoroughly with all cement factories including Dangote to handover their pumice and sand mining areas to unemployed youths in the region. As per the discussion, all cement factories have agreed to surrender some of their mining interests to play their part in the job creation efforts in the region.
Dangote Cement is willing to support the job creation endeavors of the Oromia Regional State, Onne Van Ser Wejide, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dangote Cement, based in Lagos, told Bloomberg in March.
“The Nigerian company is discussing the proposal with Oromia officials and may be willing to sign contract. As long as that it does not involve higher costs and lower quality and the quantity can still be delivered,” he told the news outlet.
Two months after, however, the company said it may shut its operations in Ethiopia if authorities in the central state of Oromia do not reverse an order to cement makers to hand over control of some parts of their businesses to local young people.
This time, Dangote’s Executive Director, Edwin Devakumar, also based in Lagos, told Bloomberg that the company will write to the federal government this week to ask it to intervene and will consider shutting the plant in Mugher, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) north of Addis Ababa as a “last option” if this fails.
All cement factories in the regional state are operating very smoothly and the regional government is not aware of Dangote’s complaints, Addis reiterated to The Reporter.
According to him, the regional government is open to discuss with Dangote over any of the complaints.
Transport Bureau head of the region, Takele Uma, who is also member of the Public Private Partnership Council of the region, on this part, told The Reporter that no communiqué was received from Dangote to be discussed by the regional cabinet, thus far. According to him, the Oromia cabinet is willing to discuss and redress the problems if Dangote comes officially.
“However, we are not prepared to give special treatment to Dangote especially at the expanse of our unemployed youth,” he told The Reporter.
In spite of Devakumar’s statement to Bloomberg stating that the company will be writing to the federal government to ask it to intervene, Negeri Lencho, communication affairs minister of the federal government, denounced the news report and assured the local media that his government has not received any formal communiqué from Dangote, so far.
Negeri was adamant about the incorrectness of the news report, blatantly claiming “the news is false”. “Dangote will not leave Ethiopia or the region,” he said, adding that what has been said is far from the truth.
Deep Kamara, manager director of Dangote Cement Ethiopia, declined to comment on the controversy saying that he is “not in a position to make any statement”.
According to The Reporter’s sources in the regional administration, the latest statement from Dangote might also have something to do with the planned investment of the regional administration on a cement plant of its own, Ambo Cement Factory, which will be sharing resources with the three existing factories in Mugher area.
Dangote Cement started operation in Ethiopia in June 2015 inaugurating its USD 600 million plant an with annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons.
Apart from original cement plant, Dangote has invested in PolyPropylene (PP) bag manufacturer in the same locality. It was also about to commence on the construction of a second cement plant when unrest began to unfold in the Oromia region.
Upon the request of the government, later on, Dangote has also announced its expansion plan to another investment portfolio: sugar industry.

The Ethiopian government has requested for an extension of the 90-day amnesty for undocumented migrants to leave Saudi Arabia as the deadline expires on Wednesday.
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that out of the over 400,000 citizens in the Gulf country, only 45,000 have returned home.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Meles Alem told local media that the number that returned is a small percentage of the 110,000 nationals who were helped to secure exit visas.
He added that the Ministry has requested for an extension from the Saudi authorities as it awaits a positive response.
Ethiopia has one of the largest undocumented migrants in Saudi Arabia working as construction and domestic workers.
Local media reports that a number of them have complained of inability to afford tickets to leave the country.
The government sent envoys to help facilitate the repatriation via the national airline Ethiopian Airlines.
Saudi Arabia announced in March the 90-day grace period for undocumented migrants to leave the country or face a prison sentence, fines and then deportation after serving the prison sentence.
This follows a similar campaign launched in 2013 that saw more than 2.5 million undocumented migrants leave the country.
The move is part of Saudi’s national campaign to rid the country of the huge number of illegal migrants

Whether it’s a friendly face at check in or a taxi driver who’s full of useful tips, nothing beats getting a warm welcome on your travels – and our interactions with local people have a huge impact on how we view countries as a whole. This month, we asked our Facebook and Twitter followers to share where they’ve found the most hospitable places around the world. Here’s what they said.
This South American country has been voted among the world’s least friendly tourist destinations in the past – but we’ve always thought Bolivia has been a bit misunderstood. And it looks like our readers agree. As long as you make an effort to learn some key phrases in the local languages, you’ll find out exactly how hospitable Bolivians can be. From the otherworldly Salar de Uyuni to the vast, sapphire-blue Lake Titicaca, the country’s spectacular sights make it worth going the extra mile.
Finns are famous for being uncommonly reserved, but that doesn’t mean they’re not a welcoming bunch – all you have to do is join them in the sauna to find out. Sweating it out together has become a national obsession, and you’ll no doubt come away from the experience with plenty of new friends. Once you’ve beaten each other with a bunch of leafy twigs and plunged feet first into a pool just a shade above freezing, you’ll at least have plenty to talk about.
Cut off from the rest of the world for decades, Myanmar only recently began emerging from its period of isolation – and now is a fascinating time to go. Visit any one of the traditional teahouses to meet the friendly locals, who generally still view tourists as a novelty. In 2016, Myanmar was voted the world’s most generous country in the World Giving Index for the third year running. The index takes into account the kindness to strangers, so you can expect to be warmly received on your travels.
It’s likely that the spindly acacia trees, dusty plains and ochre-hued sunsets that come to mind when you think of Africa belong to Kenya. It hosts a breathtaking range of natural habitats, from the reefs and lagoons of the Indian Ocean to the fertile plains of the Maasai Mara. And its cultural heritage – with more than 40 ethnic groups – is just as rich. It’s common for locals here to speak three languages – their own, Swahili and English – so you’ll find it easy to start up a conversation.
Home to everything from rumbling volcanoes to orangutan-filled rainforests, and surrounded by some of the best dive sites in the world, Indonesia’s 17,000 tropical islands are extraordinarily diverse. Meanwhile, the people that live here share around 300 ethnicities and many hundreds of languages between them. Locals are outgoing and accustomed to seeing new faces, so you shouldn’t be surprised if a complete stranger introduces themselves.
Stepping off the plane and into Japan can feel a bit like strolling onto another planet. There’s everything from ramen vending machines to futuristic capsule hotels to get your head around – and the rules of etiquette can seem just as tricky to navigate. But there’s no need to worry, as Japan is regularly heralded as one of the most welcoming and hospitable countries in the world. That means you don’t have to fret if you’ve accidentally forgotten to switch to toilet slippers or committed a chopstick-related faux pas.
Travel offers; book through Rough Guides
Colombia is widely regarded as one of South America’s rising stars, with the gradual decline of the drug cartels and improving security conditions finally granting access to its charming colonial cities, cloud forests and palm-fringed beaches. Locals here are famous for their hospitality, and you’ll no doubt get to experience this first-hand with a visit to the country’s underrated capital city or thriving Medellín.
Once dubbed “the pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill, Uganda still has plenty to be proud of, including a healthy population of mountain gorillas, the source of the world’s longest river and the Mountains of the Moon, the continent’s tallest range. Many years of civil strife have largely kept it under the tourist radar, though travellers have begun flocking back in recent times with the fostering of stability. Now, you’ve voted it one of the most welcoming countries on Earth, so it’s the perfect time for a trip.
In big Indian cities such as Delhi and Mumbai, you’re almost guaranteed to meet a new person every minute – and the welcome could initially seem a shade too warm. Everywhere you go, local people may introduce themselves, stare at you, or take photos, and you might even find yourself faced with awkward questions such as “Do you have a boyfriend?” or “How much money do you earn?” All of this is perfectly normal in India, and it’s simply a friendly way of showing interest in a new face.
Top of the list sits Ethiopia, a profoundly beautiful East African country with a history that stretches back many thousands of years. It was never colonised, so the tribal customs and hospitable traditions you can see here are largely just as they’ve always been. Take the Ethiopian coffee ceremony: the women of the household meticulously roast, grind and boil the aromatic beans, before presenting three consecutive cups of exceptionally fresh coffee to their guests. The process can last for hours, but it’s considered a real mark of friendship.

Uganda has been described as the friendliest country globally following a survey conducted among expatriates globally, according to the BBC.
In recent months, a global community network (Inter-Nations) conducted their annual Expat Insider survey of more than 14,000 expats from 191 countries, asking residents to rate a number of aspects about life abroad, including how easy it was to settle in, a country’s friendliness and ease of making friends.
As expatriates settle down, finding new friends can ease the often overwhelming task of adjusting to a new life abroad. While there are differences in local culture and language, some places can definitely feel more welcoming than others.
“This East African country received the highest marks for friendliness,” according to BBC’ s report.
GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS EXCITED
The high rating for Uganda has excited Professor Ephraim Kamuntu, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities. He said this is a reminder for Ugandans who do not appreciate their country.
“BBC listing is a good thing,” said Kamuntu, adding that Uganda is beautiful with the friendliest people but Ugandans do not appreciate it. “If you can imagine what
Uganda has or how other countries have been deprived then you appreciate your country.”
Kamuntu waved a copy of the BBC report highlighting Uganda as the friendliest country globally as he addressed a press conference at the Media Center in Kampala. He also Uganda came fifth among African countries at the ITB Berlin exhibition
Tourists coming to Uganda
Kamuntu said the country has about 1.3m annually and this is expected to increase to 4m by 2020. He also said morev earning is expected from tourism in order to transform the economy.
Edwin Muzahura, the Marketing Manager at Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) also attended pointing out there is increased inquiries from tour operators who want to visit Uganda ahead of their clients. He said Uganda has contracted three public Relation firm in Germany, UK and the US. Germany contributes the bulk of foreign tourists in Uganda.
The friendliness is determined by how expatriates are welcomed or received and this has helped to integrate expatriates into the Ugandan community.
“Government is working on infransture, internet and security for tourists, we appeal to tour operators to train their workers,” said Kamuntu. “We should harness the friendliness when we get visitors.

Ethiopian Timnit Gebru, a PhD student at the Stanford University, has praised for her role in advancing the research on artificial intelligence.
As a teenager, Timnit Gebru left Ethiopia for the United States. She thrived in her new country, where she enrolled at Stanford University for a bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD in Electrical Engineering, landed a prestigious engineering job at Apple, and co-founded a startup.
Studying computer vision under Dr. Fei-Fei Li, Gebru authored several notable papers in her research area of mining large scale datasets for sociological insights. Her recent work using machine learning methods to extrapolate census data from Google Street View images was lauded by The Economist.
Gebru actively works to boost diversity and inclusion in the field of AI. After noticing she was the only black woman at a major AI conference, she co-founded the social community Black In AI to drive connection and participation in AI research.
Gebru also returned to Ethiopia to co-teach AddisCoder, a programming bootcamp, to a diverse range of young students and help them win admission to Ivy League universities.
Since AI affects all aspects of society, even being used to manipulate elections and identify criminals, Gebru cautions that “AI researchers should not be silent regarding the repercussions of their work.” Only when technology creators tend to inclusion will the exponential benefits of artificial intelligence positively impact all.

Kenna Zemedkun, known professionally as simply Kenna, is an Ethiopian-born American musician. His track "Say Goodbye To Love" was nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Kenna is the eldest son of an Ethiopian family that immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio. He was later raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, attending school with friends and eventual career-long collaborators Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams.
Kenna began to express an interest in music upon receiving a copy of U2's The Joshua Tree. That album inspired Kenna to teach himself piano while studying singers like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, as well as groups like The Cure and Duran Duran.
Breaking into the music scene at such a young age and at an interesting time in pop history, Kenna met some of music’s biggest names including Whitney Houston, Babyface, Blackstreet, Teddy Riley and Michael Jackson. He went on to create his own sound that has yet to be categorized and filed under any mainstream genre.
New Sacred Cow
With the release of his first single in 2001, "Hell Bent", Kenna gained moderate popularity and an underground following of fans who eagerly awaited the release of his debut album, New Sacred Cow. After many delays and swapping of record labels, the album was finally released under the Sony imprint Flawless in 2003. A subsequent North American tour was launched in the Summer of 2003 with Depeche Mode front man Dave Gahan.
The album, which was co-produced by Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, contained elements of electronica, synth pop, post rock, and house music. Two singles, "Sunday After You" and "Freetime" followed the release of the album; the music video of the latter, along with "Hell Bent", appeared sporadically on MTV2. "Freetime" reached #19 on the U.S. Dance charts.
In Malcolm Gladwell's book Blink, which is about the way people judge and make decisions in their lives, a portion of one chapter focuses on the stops and starts and difficulties that Kenna experienced in getting his music accepted by the general public, despite the tremendous reception and enthusiasm that music executives, other musicians and a small, loyal fan base had when they heard his music.

The remains of an ancient basilica have been discovered about 20 meters from shore in Bursa’s Lake İznik, according to local archaeologists.
“We have found church remains. It is in a basilica plan and has three naves,” said Mustafa Şahin, an archaeology professor at Bursa Uludağ University.
The foundations of the church are currently lying in water that is about 1.5 to two meters deep.
“This church’s remains are similar to the Hagia Sophia in İznik. This is why we estimated that it was built in the fifth century A.D.,” said Şahin.
He said the structure was discovered while photographing the city from the air to make an inventory of historical and cultural artifacts.
After the discovery, the university informed the İznik Museum Directorate and the Culture and Tourism Ministry, asking that the archaeological site be protected, Şahin said.
